Preventative care is THE best way to keep your teeth and gums HEALTHY!!  Do your best to utilize the numerous products that have been developed with your dental health in mind.   Preventive dentistry begins with YOU.  Seeing your dentist and your hygienist regularly and keeping your teeth and gums healthy by avoiding sugar, candy, coffee etc are just a few of the things we need to do. The simplest form of preventive care is daily brushing with an electric brush and flossing.

On top of daily brushing, daily flossing is also recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA).  Flossing aids are used to clean in between teeth where your tooth brush can’t reach on its own.  If you are unsure how to floss properly, consult your dentist or hygienist for a quick flossing demonstration at your next visit so you can get the best results from flossing.

Make the effort to visit your dentist and hygienist at least four times per year for an exam to check for any issues you may be experiencing with your gums or teeth.  Cleanings and exams allow dentists to identify any issues, address them, and make the necessary corrections if needed.  Eating a well-balanced diet greatly improves the conditions in the mouth itself. Limiting your sugar intake and drinking water throughout the day are essential practices that will help you maintain a healthy smile.

By following a regular preventative care regiment, you can help avoid or at least lessen the impact of cavities, gingivitis, periodontitis, and other diseases. Start making a change today!!
