In a perfect world, we would all have our teeth and everyone would brush and floss and all of our dental checkups would be amazing!!   Sometimes, though, we run into situations that are beyond our control.  All the brushing and flossing in the world won’t matter if you have an accident and/or trauma that affects your teeth and /or mouth.  That’s why we have dentists! They help us with issues that may occur due to everyday life, health concerns involving other areas of the body that will eventually affect out teeth and gums and hereditary conditions that are out of our control.

Implants

One option available is dental implants. Dental implants are made of materials that integrate with bone and accepted by the human body. They are placed in the location of the missing tooth and function as an anchor for replacement teeth. Implant crowns look like natural teeth and nearby teeth don’t have to be involved in the replacement process.

Fixed Bridges

Another form of replacement is a fixed bridge. This process is an option that replaces missing teeth when a single tooth or multiple teeth are missing or have been extracted. A fixed bridge is bonded in place. Bridges look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

Removable Partial Dentures

Lastly, there are removable partial dentures.  Such as the name implies, this replacement option can be easily taken out for daily cleaning.  Partial dentures usually have replacement teeth attached to a resin base that matches gum tissue.  A partial denture usually has some form of a clasp that attaches to your natural teeth.
